Sunday of July 2007
PRIESTS FOR SCOTLAND
These notes will try to sift through some current trends of interpretation for the gospels which are presented in the Sunday liturgy. It will be a type of commentary, but only stretching for a month at a time. I will concentrate on contemporary readings of these passages which I think might provide some help in preaching primarily on gospel texts – because that is first and foremost what we are trying to do as priests.

Having just read the introduction then the commentary for the 13th and 14th Sundays I can see this being a useful resource in preparing homilies and gaining fresh perspective into the Gospel passages. Thank you.

Thanks for these notes. We're studying the Gospel of John in Scotus this semester, concluding each class with a brief presentation/discussion on the major Gospels of Lent (and Easter). I should get the students to read these notes - they're excellent, and go further than we've time for in class. On a personal level, I'm enjoying the 'questions' for pondering. Helping me connect the text to experience. Much appreciated!

I much appreciate the effort and research put into these homily notes. They are consistently a valuable starting point for reflection and preparation.
