Salamanca 07
Twenty priests from dioceses throughout Scotland recently took part in the Priests for Scotland course Aspects of Biblical Theology. The Course was led by Rev. Robert Hill and offered the participants the fruit of his recently completed doctorate in biblical studies. The group enjoyed Robert’s input and his clear enthusiasm for his subject. Copies of the course PowerPoint slides are attached here. Robert has also included some bibliography for those who might like to read a little bit more. It was the reflection of the group that a course on Scripture ten to twenty years after ordination was a timely reminder of the need to revisit the study of scripture.

The section below offers some of Robert's notes and his suggestions for reading.

The Gospel of Mark

The Gospel of Matthew

The Gospel of Luke

The Gospel of John

Some Suggestions for Additional Reading

Perhaps one of the highpoints of the course was the opportunity to meet new priests from different parts of the country and to re-visit others. The group enjoyed a visit to Segovia and the tomb of St. John of the Cross along with time to tour Salamanca itself and enjoy the hospitality of the college.

The group agreed to meet again in September 2008 in Rome but a request was made that the net might be widened to include priests ordained from ten to twenty five years.
Thanks to Robert and to all who took part.
