Bishop Tartaglia was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Glasgow on 30th June 1975. He was ordained bishop on 20th November 2005 in St. Mirren's Cathedral Paisley. Before becoming the bishop of Paisley he had previously been rector at the Pontifical Scots College in Rome.
