Director of Priests for Scotland

Rev Andrew McKenzieAndrew McKenzie is a priest of the Archdiocese of Glasgow, ordained in 1988.  Before taking up his present post as Director of Priests for Scotland he taught Pastoral theology and Liturgy as a member of the seminary staff at Scotus College Bearsden, Glasgow. Andrew still teaches there today as a visiting lecturer in liturgy. He is also secretary to the Scottish National Liturgy Commission.

Before going off to the United States for further studies in Liturgy and prior to beginning to teach in the seminary Andrew was assistant priest in St. Michael's Dumbarton, Holy Cross Croy and St. Andrew's Cathedral Glasgow. He is currently based in the parish of St. Mary's in the east end of Glasgow.

As National Director he believes that Priests for Scotland is an opportunity for priests and people to work together to improve the culture of priesthood in Scotland. He says that the past ten years have certainly seen many changes in the culture that surrounds priests. Today many priests live and work on their own. More and more is asked of them and it's easy to forget that they too need support and nourishment. Priests for Scotland is an opportunity to provide that fraternal support and nourishment.
